Topic 4e - Agriculture and sustainable development (part 2): Crop health and the FLEX mission
The type of crops being grown and the area under tillage can be measured from space. Recent innovations include combining these measurements with navigation data from space to ensure that farm machinery is operated in the most efficient way possible - covering the optimum amount of ground.
Satellite data is also increasingly used as a tool for supporting international policy in relation to sustainable development, and in helping to monitor and enforce international agreements.
