Topic 3d - Harmful algal blooms
In this video, Dr Hayley Evers-King explains the causes and effects of harmful algal blooms (sometimes also known as ‘red tides’), and how they can be monitored with satellite Earth observation.
The ability to observe and anticipate the effects of such blooms can be of great benefit to a range of industries, (including tourism and fisheries), and to individual citizens. It can also act as an added indicator of the effects of climate change on the marine system.
