Topic 2d - Albedo feedback and validating albedo measurement

Albedo is an important measurement within satellite Earth observation. It provides an indication of how much sunlight is reflected from the Earth’s surface, which in turn is significant in understanding climate change.

Furthermore, changes to the albedo of the Greenland ice sheet are part of important feedback loops which can lead to accelerated melting. In this video Professor Steffen provides an initial insight into albedo and feedback loops, and other colleagues explain how measurements of albedo from satellites are validated in the field.
